My first two weeks at the state senate

This is my first time to write about my internship and I want to start by writing down a log of my hours.

Jan. 27th--830am-1215pm
Feb. 1st--830am-1215pm
Feb. 3rd--9am-1210pm

My first few weeks at the Capitol have been pretty crazy and a learning experience. I never knew how hectic the state senate could be until I started to work there. My previous internship at the Chamber of Commerce in Tulsa was a lot different. For the Chamber I did more of the event planning side of PR and for the Senate I do more press releases and writing side of PR. I have found that both are going to be good experiences for my future in mass communications. Session began on Feb. 1st and I could actually hear the senators in session while I was working. It was pretty cool to be able to hear what all they do for the state. Just being at the Capitol makes me want to possibly work in a political science job when I graduate.

Hopefully within the next few months I will actually get to meet some of the senators and do some networking.

I am just starting to meet some of the other interns and they all seem very nice and are basically wanting to do the same kind of thing as me when they graduate. It is nice to have something in common with all of the people you work with. Two of the girls are actually in the same sorority as me.

Besides the terrible morning traffic in the morning, I am really enjoying my first few weeks at the State Senate.
