Work log- Monday, February 8, 2010- 830am-12pm & Wednesday, February 10, 2010- 830am-12pm
This week at the senate was pretty low key. It is really hard getting used to how slow the traffic moves in the mornings on the way to the Capitol. My duties as an intern are becoming more clear. For instance, every morning I do e-clippings, which is basically going through all the OKC new sources and pull out articles that would be of any interest to the Oklahoma State Senators. After that, I do the broadcast clippings and that is basically going onto all the OKC TV news station Web sites and pulling out all the important news as well.
After I do all the clippings I usually start working on the stack of page releases and road releases. Page releases are press releases for the senator's pages that work for them that week. The pages are usually in high school. The road releases are press releases that show which road projects the senators and state representatives are working on collaboratively.
Everything so far is going smoothly. I want to start checking out some of the little lunch places that are around downtown OKC and the Capitol. I usually won't be able to eat there though because I have to get back for class in Norman on Mondays and Wednesdays.
I'm still looking forward to start meeting some of the senators and state reps. This week at the senate was a good week. More to come next time.
